Hi, I’m Julia and, as a language learner myself and a language trainer and linguist that supports learners all over the world, these frustrations are close to my heart.

That’s why I have created LinguaPortal to make language learning transparent, fun and effective for you.

While learning several languages myself, I couldn’t find a clear, comprehensive overview of language learning tools that are both effective and interesting. So, I decided to create one myself – this is LinguaPortal.

I am convinced that there are many ways in which the language learning process can be improved.

LinguaPortal is here to motivate you to learn languages to:

Language learning is a natural process. It is a great, fun experience that helps you develop as a person and global citizen. Learn any language with scienc-based learning strategies and tools.

Choose the right materials to improve your language skills. Learning a language based on purpose and interest is the most motivating and rewarding approach to really make progress.

Interesting language content for a global community

I believe in multilingualism, so I also want to give access to non-English speaking learners, so my goal is to make the materials and the website available in many languages.

Support for minority languages

I care about diversity and endangered languages, so you will find a lot of resources on LinguaPortal that help you learn the “smaller” languages. I believe any language is worth learning, so I encourage you to learn them!

THE FOUNDER

I started LinguaPortal because of my passion for learning and teaching languages, and my strong belief in the power of multilingualism.

Languages are at the heart of my life. As a linguist and language trainer, I write about, learn, and teach languages every day.

Learning languages has brought a lot of joy to me from a young age. My native language is German and I am a so-called polyglot and I speak 6 languages: I have taught myself English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Dutch. Currently, I am also learning Polish and Indonesian by myself, and there are many, many more to come.

My learning philosophy is based on interest and relevance. I am not a big fan of one-size-fits-all language courses that teach you phrases. I hope that together we can find resources for learning the language of choice that you are interested in, be it arts, business, tourism, etc. I wholeheartedly believe that finding meaningful material is the most motivating and effective way to learn a language.
